a paraphrase of our conversation yesterday: Joshua: Can we get Little Mermaid 3 from the library today? Mom: Oh, Joshua, that isn't available at the library yet because it is so new. Remember we got that one from the Red Box when it came out a couple weeks ago. Joshua: Not the Ariel's Beginning one - the one with Melody. Mom: Oh, do you mean the Little Mermaid 2 where Ariel has a daughter. Joshua: No, that is the Little Mermaid 3 because it comes last. Ashlyn : No, Joshua. Ariel's Beginning comes before Little Mermaid 1, but it is NOT Little Mermaid 1. Joshua: No, no, no. Listen. We own Little Mermaid 2 and I want to see Little Mermaid 3. We already saw 1 a little while ago. Mom: Honey, we can go see if the library has Little Mermaid 2 today. But there really is no Little Mermaid 3. Learning to type

This year for most projects in fourth grade, Ashlyn will have the option to type her report. This is new for her. Because she has to also write everything in cursive in fourth grade, she opted to try out typing the report that was due tomorrow. The assignment was actually a poster board that she had to create with pictures and 15 facts, or complete sentences. So after she collected her 15 facts and pictures, I gave her the rough draft sheet and sat her at the laptop. The first five minutes were excitement! She said, this is going to be so much better than writing it all out and making sure it is all so neat.....after about 20 minutes, she asked if she could take a break. After her short break, the wining started. "This is taking forever!" and "Maybe you (mom) could type a sentence and then I could type a sentence" both filled the air with frustration.
