Beware of handsome trash guys at Walmart
When I became a mother of 4, shopping became a whole new experience. I am not one of those mothers who stay inside all day with their kids afraid to go out with a big handful of them (although I am not ruling that option out completely yet- potty training is beginning and this may all cease soon.) We have had to try numerous tricks and "plans" when we have ventured out for long periods of time, especially shopping. One of our rules lately is Jonathan has to sit in the cart or stroller (not walk). When Ashlyn is along it is so much easier. She can push a stroller or keep Joshua's attention most of the time so I only have to really keep tabs on the little 2 and the cart. Since we have started preschool this year for Caleb, life has gotten much easier. I have tried to do most of my shopping the two and a half hours he is there. That is the same time Ashlyn and Joshua are in school so I have got to know Jonathan's true shopping personality a little more alone. He reminds me of Ashlyn at this age and loves to say "Hobby Lobby, Lowes, and Walmart" over and over when we are driving out of the preschool parking lot.
Well this past week I have discovered a new game Caleb has taught Jonathan that is pretty hilarious. I usually don't allow the kids to stand on the back or sides of the basket, not always because it is unsafe, but mainly heavy and much harder to steer. Well, what Jonathan and Caleb want to do now all the time is play trashman. This is where they grab things I need off the shelves, throw them in the basket and jump on the side of the cart and yell "trashguy go!" They do this off and on throughout the store. Jonathan says it the cutest of course and gets a few laughs from other shoppers while we go along. I think the goal is to still be a Fireman and Daddy when they grow up, but Trashguy might soon make the wish list too!
