Valentine's Day 2011

John and I were able to go stay with some family over Valentine's Day weekend (Friday morning through Monday evening) for a couples getaway. It was wonderful! The kids all stayed here with Grandma Sue all weekend and it sounds like they had just as much fun. Our first date was 14 years ago, yesterday, so it was nice to be together all weekend. We relaxed, played cards and games, went to see a movie, went to a Swap Mart (flea market), ate out and took some couch naps. A special thanks to the Grothes (and John's grandparents) for letting us stay with them and hang out with their family all weekend. It was a huge blessing! We love you all very much! Oh, and thanks to United who gave us vouchers in Hawaii last Feb when were stranded there. That's the other reason this trip was possible. We don't plan on traveling much now the rest of the year :) But happily await a few visitors this Spring and Summer!

Ahhh, some time alone. Having a new baby postpones that dream for me for at least a year! It seems you were in AZ? Next time, (if ever) you are in the PHX area, give me a holler!
I am impressed by your DR experience. My sister did an internship there, teaching about bathroom hygiene. SHe loved it!

Alexis, we should have met up with you. We stayed in Queen Creek and it was beautiful there - 78 and 80. We might go back this summer and if we do, I'll give you a call. Sounds fun. Your son is precious, I just caught up on your blog.

Merry Christmas from our crew to yours! We are thankful for 2024 and all that it brought to our family. God has been gracious and merciful to us as we hope to glorify Him with our lives and figure out our next season of life. We had more ups than downs this year and are excited to see what unfolds in 2025. John and Deanna celebrated 26 years of marriage this year and were able to celebrate with an anniversary trip through four National Parks in CA and NV. It was an amazing trip and of course urges us to travel more this coming year while we are healthy enough to hike and have more time on our hands in this short season. The peer pressure of the internet

So I have been invited about 5 times to join Facebook this past year and it seems lately most of my adult friends are joining. I have been afraid to join, not because of the crazy psychos out there, but because I know the time I would lose once I joined. I keep going back and forth and am driving John crazy using his account all the time to email friends I haven't talked to for awhile. He keeps telling me to get my own account. He joined last year because his youth Sunday School Class was all on there and it was better for them to discuss and email through Facebook . He is just now using it to re-connect with other people or talk back and forth with KC friends here (he no longer teaches the youth at church). When my friend Sara joined she said her inbox was full of friend requests and how crazy it was to get requests from people she never really talked to back in high school. Is it rude to just decline those people or is the "cool" thing to just have a bunch of friend...
