A day of firsts...

  • Caleb's first day of preschool!!!! He loved it of course!
  • My first attempt at running this year with Jonathan in the jogging stroller - we made it 1 mile and I was unable to run the whole thing - looking forward to trying again on Friday
  • Went to Hobby Lobby with only 1 child - a first in a LOOOOONG time - and did not have to say "do not touch anything" 5 or 6 times :)
  • Went through the drive thru and ordered only 1 water and 1 order of french fries :)
  • We got our first water bill here! This is exciting because I was very nervous that had not received it after living here 2 months and knew we would have some kind of late fee. I had called so many times this past week and no one answers the phone....paid and done now - oh, 2 billing cycles!
  • Was able to talk on my cell a couple times in the car and could hear them perfectly! Children are sure a blessing, but so is school :) - for all that learning of course!

Love it!!!! Josie said she got to see Caleb on the playground and was SO EXCITED!!! I"m glad they get to see each other! I'm so glad you had a relaxing day Deanna, you deserve it!

Allison- Caleb did say that he got to see Josie and Kate and talked with them at recess. His class has so many girls and only a few boys. He really did enjoy it.

Merry Christmas from our crew to yours! We are thankful for 2024 and all that it brought to our family. God has been gracious and merciful to us as we hope to glorify Him with our lives and figure out our next season of life. We had more ups than downs this year and are excited to see what unfolds in 2025. John and Deanna celebrated 26 years of marriage this year and were able to celebrate with an anniversary trip through four National Parks in CA and NV. It was an amazing trip and of course urges us to travel more this coming year while we are healthy enough to hike and have more time on our hands in this short season. Other family highlights of 2024 included seeing the Total Eclipse, watching the Chiefs win another Superbowl, and spending time together all six of us at home or on vacations together a few times this year.  John spent the last year continuing to volunteer with Partners Worldwide, his business mentor group, and our church, Bethel Baptist Church. The peer pressure of the internet

So I have been invited about 5 times to join Facebook this past year and it seems lately most of my adult friends are joining. I have been afraid to join, not because of the crazy psychos out there, but because I know the time I would lose once I joined. I keep going back and forth and am driving John crazy using his account all the time to email friends I haven't talked to for awhile. He keeps telling me to get my own account. He joined last year because his youth Sunday School Class was all on there and it was better for them to discuss and email through Facebook . He is just now using it to re-connect with other people or talk back and forth with KC friends here (he no longer teaches the youth at church). When my friend Sara joined she said her inbox was full of friend requests and how crazy it was to get requests from people she never really talked to back in high school. Is it rude to just decline those people or is the "cool" thing to just have a bunch of friend...

Our 2023 Christmas Letter

  Merry Christmas from our crew to yours! We are in disbelief that another year has come and gone and continue to be grateful for all we have today. 2023 was a year of growth, graduations, change, and loss. John and Deanna inch closer to being empty nesters and can't belief they have 3 ADULT children now! Our lives as parents have seen a shift more this year as our oldest kid moved across the the country and the thought of the next season of our life is pretty exciting. We celebrated 25 years of marriage in August and hope to take an international trip at the beginning of 2024 to celebrate. We were able to take a few trips this year together along with a few trips with different kids. These adventures continue to be a favorite part of each year and the memories made have been incredible. Deanna and Joshua took a trip to Utah this summer before he went back to college and saw multiple National Parks.
