Another Park Hill Blessing

Once again, we are so excited for Caleb to be in the public school district we are in! This morning when we were getting him ready for school, I noticed he was lacking some long sleeve shirts and pants. Joshua hands down most of his clothes to Caleb (while he is still a little bigger than him) which has been wonderful being so close in age. But they are in different seasons. So sometimes I overlook that Caleb is missing something because his closet is so full - full of summer stuff right now. So after I left the school today, I noticed there was an email about the Park Hill clothes closet. The entire school district has a donation center where families can donate old clothes. Then a huge amount of volunteer organizes them by size, category, etc and twice a month open the doors of the "clothing center". Any student enrolled in the district can take advantage of the center - it doesn't matter your income, age, etc. So this morning, I stopped by to see what they had to offer. It is amazing! Each child gets 4 pairs of brand new underwear and 10 pairs of brand new socks. Then you get to shop the used clothes for your child - it's like my thrift store with now cash register! You can pick 20 tops (short sleeves, long sleeves, sweaters, etc), 20 bottoms (pants, shorts, running pants, dress pants, etc), 15 misc items (winter coat, snow bibs, snow boots, shoes, hoodies, hats, belts, etc), and then pick one toy or book per child. This is per semester so in January you go back for another 55 items. It's such a blessing! I was able to pick 12 winter type tops (mainly Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place) and 10 pairs of pants (the comfy kind that Caleb loves with no buttons), a wonderful Old Navy Winter Coat, snow bibs, snow boots, 4 pairs of shoes, and the free socks and underwear this morning. Caleb was so excited to see his pile of "new" stuff when he got home. After dinner, he asked if he could go and pick a few more things out. He picked a fun snow hat, some soccer guards, soccer jersey, pjs, a John Deere hoodie and a pair of snow boots for his brother. It was kinda funny to see the difference between what I picked and then what he picked. He was so proud of his selection, he posed for a picture tonight....
Now I need to organize closets again and pass on some more stuff to friends at church :) I might go back in December and get my last 10 items for this semester too!

Wait! Do you have your house decorated for Christmas already?! Wow! =)

Leevi is funny, too, and only likes comfy pants without buttons. I don't know what the deal is! NO jeans for him! And nice Sunday dress pants are hard to get on him, too.

That sounds like a great place! I wish we had one near us to take advantage of, too!

That's funny Jamie - both Caleb and Ashlyn hate wearing jeans! I hope you're enjoying your new place.
