Labor Day Weekend Highlights

  • Joshua, Ashlyn and I went to see Kung Fu Panda at the dollar theatre
  • We painted a wall in Jonathan's room Denim Blue (to match the accent wall on the opposite side of the room - I loved this color too much to have it only on one wall I guess)
  • We re-arranged Jonathan's furniture to move in his play house from outside he loves so much and tried to be proactive for colder weather approaching soon
  • After a day, we moved the house back outside because it took up too much room :( and moved it all again (different from the other 2 ways and added his Cars bedding he has had since Christmas - he is now using a pillow and sheet!)
  • Re-arranged the boys furniture in their car room again and added an old Cd player for dancing time
  • Hung new vertical blinds in the kitchen and horizontal blinds in the Car room
  • Organized under both bathroom sinks and got rid of a trash bag of stuff we never used
  • Fixed a broken handle on the Car room wardrobe (wanted to do this forever and always forgot)
  • Hung lattice on the deck in one area we had never finished - then moved the gas grill away from the direct sunlight to help with rusting problem
  • Started the new laundry room closet that will enclose the furnace and water heater (this project might take more time than I had planned, but at least we broke ground)
  • Organized the girls closets and got rid of 2 bags full of clothes :)
  • The girls went shopping at our favorite thrift store Labor Day sale and got tons of fall/winter clothing for $30 - all name brands and each about $1
  • The boys went shopping for a new computer game John has been wanting (after hours of finding it and installing it, we do not have a graphics card that will make it work :( so that is still something John wants to do soon)
  • So then the boys all played Sims for hours
  • All 3 boys got sick Sat night with the sinus stuff the other 3 have had for a couple weeks - they were pretty miserable on Sunday - so we had to skip our Labor Day BBQ
  • John was pretty excited about a new pico do gallo recipe (thanks for the idea Alicia) and made some black beans and good mexican food one night
  • We did take quite a bit of naps too...thanks for sticking through that, I am sure I forgot something, but that is the gist of the weekend!

What a productive 3 day weekend!! I wish I could say I got as much done, but Frank got quite a bit done around the house and yard. I don't know why it takes a 3 day weekend to make us do all those extra chores when we could do them any ol' day!

Wow, I am so jealous, what did I get done? Zip...nada... so sad. Is the thrift shop in Kearney? Thanks for sharing your weekend!

Shelly,
Our favorite thrift store we get the majority of our wardrobes (toys, furniture, and sometimes kitchen accessories too) is close to you actually - in Claycomo, Maj-r-thrift. We LOVE that place and everything was 50% on Labor Day. There are a couple good ones in Kearney too if you're ever up this way :)
