Blast from the Past

One of John's favorite things to do when he was young was play Star Wars with his mom. They had all the pieces to the original movies and would set up the entire thing. They would play for hours and my mother-in-law really could never part with all of it. Our boys love Star Wars right now so John asked his mom for his old toys back. It was fun for him to go through this huge tub of toys and explain everything to us. He even had some old cars he made in middle school, old cowboys and Indians, and some old awards. We got rid of some of the smaller pieces and misc stuff and are excited to find the people in storage to play. While we were pulling it all out we started talking a little about toys in the 80s. John and I had a few toys in common - Garbage Pail Kids Trading Cards, Transformers, and Choose Your Own Adventure Books. While he enjoyed playing Star Wars and GI Joes with his mom, my sisters and I loved playing Barbies and store/bank/house. What were some of your favorites?

Star Wars is big at our house, too. I found Frank's old Star Wars Legos when we moved and Leevi has just loved playing with them. I think that kids love having things that used to be mom or dad's when they were little. And of course, all those toys you and John had in common were our favorites growing up, too. It's funny to think some of those things that were around when we were growing up are now coming back i.e. Hello Kitty, Cabbage Patch Kids, Strawberry Shortcake, & Popples, just to name a few. It makes me feel so old!

Our 2024 Christmas Update

Merry Christmas from our crew to yours! We are thankful for 2024 and all that it brought to our family. God has been gracious and merciful to us as we hope to glorify Him with our lives and figure out our next season of life. We had more ups than downs this year and are excited to see what unfolds in 2025. John and Deanna celebrated 26 years of marriage this year and were able to celebrate with an anniversary trip through four National Parks in CA and NV. It was an amazing trip and of course urges us to travel more this coming year while we are healthy enough to hike and have more time on our hands in this short season. The peer pressure of the internet

So I have been invited about 5 times to join Facebook this past year and it seems lately most of my adult friends are joining. I have been afraid to join, not because of the crazy psychos out there, but because I know the time I would lose once I joined. I keep going back and forth and am driving John crazy using his account all the time to email friends I haven't talked to for awhile. He keeps telling me to get my own account. He joined last year because his youth Sunday School Class was all on there and it was better for them to discuss and email through Facebook . He is just now using it to re-connect with other people or talk back and forth with KC friends here (he no longer teaches the youth at church). When my friend Sara joined she said her inbox was full of friend requests and how crazy it was to get requests from people she never really talked to back in high school. Is it rude to just decline those people or is the "cool" thing to just have a bunch of friend...
