Decisions for the Fall
I just love Spring! And I love that Spring arrived early this year. The grass around here is very green, flowers are blooming on trees and in the ground, and I can hear my children playing outside almost everyday again. Pure excitement! The one thing I don't look forward to when it comes to spring, is all the planning for the fall. We received our enrollment papers for school back in February. All Kindergarten round ups and testing is well underway and all of the decisions are needing to be made by April for school....
This year we have been actively praying about our fall. Right now, Jonathan attends preschool 3 days a week and our other 3 kids attend a great private school 3 days a week. They are home with me the other 2 days working for many, many hours on school work. John is a part time teacher at the school which helps us pay for part of our tuition for the 3 to attend there. It's very hard to write and say outloud, but next fall, all of our children will be in school now!!!
Well, next year we are considering 3 different scenarios...
#1 - We send all 4 kids to our private school (a very expensive option). Jonathan would attend K there for half a day on MWF and the other 3 continue their schedules like they did this year.
#2 - We home school Ashlyn for 6th grade and enjoy learning some fun home making skills, learn Spanish together, work on some social skills, and a few other fun projects I have been dreaming about teaching her and never had the time to. We would then send the 3 boys to the private school and pay around what we did this year to send the older 3.
#3 - We homeschool Ashlyn, send Joshua and Caleb to the private school, and send Jonathan to the new public school here near our house for Kindergarten. He would qualify for speech therapy just like Caleb did and get to go full time, five days a week. This would allow Ashlyn and I more time for home school, as well as save us more money for next fall when we know all 4 will be at the private school again.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. We are still not certain which way we will go, but we are leaning toward #2 right now. Part of me thinks #3 is very much in the running (and kinda funny to think we would be participating in home schooling, private schooling, and public schooling for one calendar year!) Please join us as we pray for what we should do and what is best for each of our children. I will keep you posted as we come to a final decision, especially since all of our forms are due soon!
