We tried out camping (the first time with all 6 of us) in the backyard last night. We have decided to try this activity more this summer and thought it might be smart to began in our backyard. We are excited for the real thing by the lake soon. I have to say though, we struggled some. Once the tent was up, the smores were eaten, and we were all laying in the dark in the tent, it only took about 30 minutes for 4 of the 6 to say, "Can we go inside now?" It was pretty funny. But we didn't cave in and all made it through the night even with a little rain. This morning though is the real test for the other 2 who didn't want to come in last night....those 2 feel like they are 10 years older, can't walk straight, and have said multiple time so far "I feel like I got ran over by a truck!" Maybe the air mattress will make its way to the lake next time!
Merry Christmas from our crew to yours! We are thankful for 2024 and all that it brought to our family. God has been gracious and merciful to us as we hope to glorify Him with our lives and figure out our next season of life. We had more ups than downs this year and are excited to see what unfolds in 2025. John and Deanna celebrated 26 years of marriage this year and were able to celebrate with an anniversary trip through four National Parks in CA and NV. It was an amazing trip and of course urges us to travel more this coming year while we are healthy enough to hike and have more time on our hands in this short season. Other family highlights of 2024 included seeing the Total Eclipse, watching the Chiefs win another Superbowl, and spending time together all six of us at home or on vacations together a few times this year. John spent the last year continuing to volunteer with Partners Worldwide, his business mentor group, and our church, Bethel Baptist Church. He started a contrac...
Let me begin by saying that we have tried all three of the typical education systems available to us. We have used private school, public school, and homeschooling full time. We do not have a favorite right now nor do we think one is the perfect system to use, but we have sure seen the benefits of all three. Today I wanted to write about our public school system. We are in a really good school district. Our high school is ranked #6 in Missouri. We have been so impressed with both our elementary and middle school we have used. One of my favorite things about Line Creek Elementary is the staff there and the opportunities for extra staff to help our children succeed. Because of Caleb's speech disorder and delay he had from age 2 to 6, we knew that he would need some special education classes in elementary school. We have to report that Park Hill has done an AMAZING job in this area!! One big advantage to the new Common Core curriculum implemented in our di...
