Our week in review
Sorry I have really been bad about blogging this past week (both writing and reading). I am not sure where the time has really gone. I have some fun pics I need to upload from my camera to put on here from the past week too, but I thought I would write something really fast about what has been going on here. Here is a short synopsis...
1. We started staging for our house to go on the market. That means we have re-arranged some furniture, decluttered some toys and stuff laying out we don't actually use/need anymore, and really emptied out every ones closet. This is the kind of stuff I actually enjoy doing so started with the fun stuff!
2. We got a few different bids about our siding, roof, and a couple windows needing replaced. We found out today that we really shouldn't paint the outside of our house until late March because of the weather...so we might not actually list it until April now which is a small bummer, but much more exciting to think about not doing it in the middle of a school semester...maybe we will actually move in the summer which would be "my" plan now.
3. We got to hang out with some friends we hadn't seen for a long time. That was both refreshing and fun to catch up with all of them...
4. We decided to save some money in our kitchen and replace some vinyl floor tiles we installed a couple years ago with some new ones...the old ones were faded by our sliding glass doors and a bunch of them were peeling up. The realtor said we might need to clean them up, but wasn't sure so we decided this Saturday to tackle it....that was interesting! We had to peel up the old tiles, which were glued down of course with some kind of magic glue that requires hours of scraping, peeling, and scrubbing, leaving four of us with blisters, bruised knees and complaining hearts. Pictures to come soon...it really does look 10 times better than before because we went with a much nicer tile than before and it looks very professional!
5. We cleaned up our garage, which actually motivated me to get rid of tons more things and save some really cute stuff for a garage in March - nothing like Spring cleaning in January!
6. Ashlyn has picked up on John's love for reading this past week. She can't put books down now and has the desire to finish the whole book up she starts...most of her friends have had this desire for awhile, but it really hit her this week. She has read about 5 or 6 more big chapter books this week alone. John is on cloud 9 right now and keeps telling Joshua how excited he is for him to start reading too...I think that is my cue to start the phonogram cards with him now that Ashlyn did in Kindergarten.
7. The boys have really become good playmates again...all 3 of them. When Ashlyn is gone, they are starting to find different things to play and do and it is really neat to watch. Joshua really is becoming a leader now when Ashlyn is at school - it will be neat to see his personality next year in Kindergarten.
8. I added some new vinyl tiles in the hall bathroom which could be laid right over the existing floor so it only took about 2 hours. It also looks much better. Yes, all this works kinda makes me want to stay more...
Between house projects, cleaning, and school stuff we did the normal everyday Hanson stuff (minus the blog) and kept pretty cold. We will try to update more often again. How are things in your neck of the woods?
