The Feet Picture

So yesterday I hung out with my best friend Lisa who is a photographer. We were both inspired this past week with a local photographer's website and work and decided to play around with the boys a little. We did mostly individual shots, which is refreshingly fun! What a difference it makes to only be working one to smile. Everyone did great and we finished up right about when John and Ashlyn got home. We had to then take a few of Ashlyn right in time for Nate and Eli to come for dinner. Anyway, it was a great night of spaghetti and photos.

Since Lisa had all of her stuff here and we saw a couple shots we wanted to try with all 6 of us - we gave it a try. First a picture of us all on our bed, the kids in focus on the edge of the bed on their tummies, and John and I in the background fuzzy watching them. It came out pretty good and will be better black and white. Then came the interesting part of our evening...

Have you ever seen that picture in a magazine or card and thought, wow that is a great picture or what a great idea. Well, that is what I had in mind for this one. Little did I know having six people on their backs with only their feet in the picture could be such an ordeal! Getting kids to smile all at the same time doesn't seem as impossible anymore! Right when Joshua had his feet straight where the rest of ours were, Caleb would roll over. Then once we got Joshua where he should (while he was yelling the whole time), Jonthan would kick his feet in the air (also screaming at this point). Then we had to cover everyone up in a blanket so you could only see the feet and that was not what anyone wanted. The whole picture took about 6 minutes, and boy was it a long 6 minutes. Everyone was yelling over each other saying "Lay still", "Are we done", "I can't breathe!", "Scoot over!", "I am not taking anymore pictures", and Jonathan screaming the whole time. Meanwhile, poor Lisa is cracking up trying to get that one shot of everyone kicking. I think we finally got one (Caleb and Jonathan got moved in between John and I - helped to hold them still this way) and we will be sharing it soon as our new header! Next time you see an adorable picture or pose somewhere, think about how much work it took to get it :) I know we sure will.

Oh and some exciting news...our blog will start to include better quality pictures soon :) Lisa gave me her old Digital Rebel camera she used for her business and boy is it nice. We are excited to take some lessons this spring from her and hopefully learn some new photography stuff. We are excited to capture more moments of our kids that are actually printable :)

Yes, picture taking is always a headache. But once you get that perfect shot, it is all worth it. I can't wait to see how they turned out!
