Hanson Crew

I used to love blogging. This was before Facebook and Instagram and all things "shareable". So because I was posting family events on those venues, I skipped our family blog posts. I had full intentions to go back and re-post them on this blog so I could continue to print our family blog books that our kids love looking at each year!  Well, I failed.  I also started a new blog for mother-in-law which was intended to be a cancer journey blog with at least 3 to 4 posts a week.  I failed there too. Plus, that was just too hard to type/log/share. There were moments we only wanted to know about. (these will be shared in the back blog though). So with high hopes and hopefully scheduled blog time, I plan to go back and catch this blog up to date.  I will post new posts going forward in 2017, but will also go back to 2015 and back-date old posts from Facebook and my calendar. So these older posts will be dated back when they happened. My hope is print both 2015 and 2016...

This year has sure had it's ups and down.  We started 2015 with the death of Deanna's father, Phil Maestas.  He died unexpectedly at the age of 60 in December of Stage 4 Liver Disease.  Deanna and her younger sister Adrienne were able to go out to Seattle in December to say goodbye before his organs shut down.  She is very thankful for the relationship she had with her dad and so glad he was able to know all 4 of our children. Soon after that loss, John's mother, Sue Hanson, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer.  We are still in shock by her diagnosis since she doesn't show any huge symptoms yet. She is 64.  Her life expectancy at her diagnosis was 6 months to 2 years and we were told it is terminal.  She has undergone a couple chemo treatments and after months of medical care and research, she is now on a maintenance chemo.  Her tumor has started to grow again, but is stable right now. We have been reminded through these 2 life changing ...

We finished up Ashlyn's room this weekend but we weren't sure what to do about the beam/column that runs through her room. We painted the walls a light grey and got rid of her awesome accent wall so she could paint a TARDIS. Since Dr. Who is the main theme of the room, we opted to go with a black beam. Then we found this awesome glitter paint that goes on clear, but tries really cook speckles. Here is the final product...

 Ashlyn is redecorating her bedroom this weekend and has decided to put her art skills to work.  She is going to paint a TARDIS on her bedroom wall from Doctor Who.  Final pics to come...

Found this on clearance at Kirkland's this week for our fireplace.  After an interesting 2014, we thought we could use the reminder going into 2015.  Thankful for His will and His leading this next year!
