Park day with friends

-

We enjoyed the day with our friends the Mosley's.  We went to a new park in Lee's Summit that had a huge climbing structure, a zip line, and an awesome skateboarding area. The kids skateboarded for a little while and then decided to practice being an American Ninja Warrior.  They climbed the "Warped Wall" over and over!

Safe in the Arms of God

Well, I am about half way done with this great book by John MacArthur and had to write a post about it. This book is designed for people who have lost a child, whether it be unborn, stillborn, or a young child. I wanted to read it after a friend told me about it when she miscarried. It is awesome! I am always interested in reading someone's opinion about something the bible doesn't clearly answer...and because there is no plain explanation about what happens to young children and babies when they die, I have to agree with this author and the scripture he references. Some friends and I got into a pretty deep conversation over the 4th of July about it and we were all sharing what our husbands believed. Some believed only the elected children would go on to heaven and we do not know which children are of the elect just like adults (I agree that only the elected adults go to heaven as it is explained in Romans 9). Others, with myself included, thought that the bible says over and ...

2025 Annual Christmas Update

Merry Christmas from our crew to yours! We are grateful for 2025 and ways the Lord grew each of us this year. God has been gracious and merciful to us this year like years before. John and Deanna celebrated 27 years of marriage this year and thought 2025 would be the year we would become empty nesters, but God had other plans. We are happy to report we have two adult children living with us as we begin next year and are thankful for more memories with them in our home, including dinner a few times a week. Also, Jonathan adopted a black lab/pointer puppy this fall and we've all enjoyed the playfulness and snuggles that come with her each day in our home. This is Bailey. Bear is still in denial that she is living here. 2025 highlight: Our crew was able to all be together in KC for Jonathan's high school graduation in May! Deanna's younger sister Adrienne came out along with Ashlyn to celebrate too which was so great. Ashlyn and Josh are home for Christmas this year and we a...

Merry Christmas from our crew to yours! We are thankful for 2024 and all that it brought to our family. God has been gracious and merciful to us as we hope to glorify Him with our lives and figure out our next season of life. We had more ups than downs this year and are excited to see what unfolds in 2025. John and Deanna celebrated 26 years of marriage this year and were able to celebrate with an anniversary trip through four National Parks in CA and NV. It was an amazing trip and of course urges us to travel more this coming year while we are healthy enough to hike and have more time on our hands in this short season. Other family highlights of 2024 included seeing the Total Eclipse, watching the Chiefs win another Superbowl, and spending time together all six of us at home or on vacations together a few times this year.  John spent the last year continuing to volunteer with Partners Worldwide, his business mentor group, and our church, Bethel Baptist Church. He started a contrac...
