Poseidon's Trident Letterbox

Our crew created another Letterbox this weekend.  Joshua had just finished his unit on Greek Mythology and figured out how to create a stamp using an eraser. So he made a stamp of a trident for our new box.  We hid the box at the same park we have our first one near our house.  Once we hid it, our good friend Darwin came out and got to use our clues to find it.  He loved it!  He is from New York and had never heard of Letterboxing.  He hasn't walked much on park trails either.  He was so excited when he found it!  Here are the clues to the box if you are in KC:

Drive to Platte Purchase Park (near Hwy 152 and N. Platte Purchase Road)at 2800 NW 100th Street, KC, MO, 64154. Enter in the Main Entrance of the Park to the left (you'll see a big park sign) and stay on the road until the parking lot at the end of the street. There will be baseball fields behind your parked car. Start walking west on the paved trail in the parking lot toward a wooded area and away from the baseball fields. You will be walking a 1/2 mile on this paved trail. Keep walking on this trail and go past the first metal park bench. Continue on the trail around a big curve where you will see several huge fallen trees. Once you start to climb up a small hill on the paved trail, you will see a dirt path into the woods on the right side. It is right at the 1/2 mile mark from the beginning of the trail. The dirt path will be before the second park bench, so if you reach that bench, you have gone too far. Walk on that dirt path about 100 steps. You will see two skinny trees that look like a doorway on the dirt path you are on. Walk through those 2 trees. Keep waling on the dirt trail past a big pile of sticks on the right. When you reach a huge fallen tree in the creek, the dirt path splits into two paths. Take the path that leads to the right and runs along the creek. Walk on this dirt path until you reach a skinny tree that is blocking the dirt path. Step over that fallen tree. In about 18 steps, stop and take 5 steps to the left. You will see a metal rusty box on the ground. Poseidon's Trident is hidden under that metal box. Please put the box back under the rusty square so you cannot see it when you are done. There is interesting deer remains in that area as well.
