Life in Costa Rica

John and Ashlyn left for Costa Rica early Friday morning. They had a really fast turnover in Atlanta between Kansas City and Costa Rica, which made for a really quick phone call about some payroll problems as he left the country.  Their arrival in Costa Rica was without their luggage and they were wearing cold KC clothes in 90 degree weather.  It was kinda funny because I had just explained to Ashlyn that most luggage make it to their destination when I unpacked her carry on this Thursday. They were able to buy some short sleeve shirts and shorts the first day they were there and enjoyed a Maids reception and dinner.  Ashlyn made some new friends with a few of the other girls who came with their parents who own The Maids.  The walked on the beach Saturday morning, collected sea shells, and ate at a resort hotel.  Then they bought swimsuits ($100 each) and sunscreen ($30/bottle) to head out onto a Catamaran with The Maids.  They were able to snorkel, watch the sunset and enjoy a nice dinner.  When they came back to the hotel, their luggage was there.  I believe Delta will reimburse them for the clothes and suits since it in 90 degrees there and they only had winter clothes on from KC.  But we will see.  Their plans for Sunday are to zip line all morning, get massages in the afternoon, and then swim at the pool again.  Monday is an adventure day with some kind of fast ride down a river with crocodiles.  Should be neat to hear about that!  We are very thankful to have Skyped with them Saturday night.  We hope to Skype again tonight for a little while too.  John is certain that Ashlyn will remember this trip the rest of her life.  It has been life changing for her.  And I think her Spanish classes might be coming in handy at least to watch TV in the hotel :)  I will post pics when they return...
